I wanted to design something simple but powerful enough to reach many diverse people. I’m disabled, so I relate very much to service dogs and ESA’s. I hope to have one myself! Animals make life livable for many like me. They bring only joy and purpose. So the basic idea of this design was to reflect not just the neurotypical, but the atypical pet owners in the Missoula community as well.
I took two hands forming a heart over a paw and then drew Missoula’s iconic mountains, including Mt. Jumbo, over the hands themselves. I think it represents the community of Missoula as a whole, then the individual pet owner, and then the pet, all in one.
