Down Range Boarding Services

Why Down Range Boarding Services?  With Steve and Terry being pet owners themselves and having to find quality boarding for their own pets out of the Missoula area, they decided Missoula needed a top notched, clean, affordable and safe boarding facility.  As like most, we treat our animals like part of the family and know what it is like to have to leave our beloved family home when we travel. Down Range Boarding Services will take your stress away by being that loving “home” away from home facility.

Being a veteran owned and operated facility, Steve knows the hardship of those active military members who are deployed and have no family close by to leave their fury loved one with, so Down Range Boarding Services will always have a kennel open for any active deployed service member to board their fury friend free of charge.  This peace of mind knowing their fury loved one is well being taken care of in a safe and clean environment with love allows them to do their job serving their country.

The new boarding facility was built with your pet in mind and features both indoor and outdoor kennels. We offer accommodations for all sizes of dogs and cat condos for your feline friends. The facility is temperature controlled so they can comfortably enjoy the indoors on those cold winter days and stay cool on those hot summer days. Down Range Boarding Services sits on five acres with a large fenced outdoor play area that allows your pet room to run and exercise but with the maximum safety.

Great Pyrenees Rescue, Montana

Great Pyrenees Rescue, Montana rescues and rehabilitates Great Pyrenees and Great Pyrenees mix dogs, and then offers them for adoption.  When the rescue accepts a dog, they attempt to place the dog in a foster home so that more can be learned about the dog from the foster parent. When it isn't possible to place them in a foster environment, the dogs are boarded at Old Farm Kennels in Florence where owner and staff are able to learn more about the dogs the rescue. Visit the shelter’s website to learn more about the dogs available for adoption. If you're interested in helping the shelter, visit their Facebook page.

Montana German Shepard Rescue

Montana German Shepherd Rescue is an all volunteer organization, run solely on donations and adoption fees. The rescue serves German Shepherds in need, with our primary mission to rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters in Montana, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and California and help them find their forever homes. AniMeals Shelter & Animal Food Bank

Ten million animals are abandoned to the streets and shelters in this country every year. The shelters and rescue groups that house and feed these animals are struggling. AniMeals Animal Food Bank supplements the food needs of these homeless animals which frees up precious dollars for other critical needs, like medicine and surgeries. Additionally, AniMeals feed the pets of the homebound disabled, families in crisis, feral cat colonies, and animals living on the streets. In 2016 AniMeals distributed 84,514 pounds of food from their food bank; 63,051 pounds went to 53 shelters and rescues, 8,710 pounds went to 190 families in crisis situations, and 12,753 pounds of food and supplies were given to 63 home bound seniors. The food bank has sent out over 700 tons of food and supplies in the last 10 years. The territory covers the entire state of Montana consisting of 147,000 square miles.

AniMeals is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is supported entirely from the generous donations of animal lovers everywhere. A strong network of volunteers, doing everything from deliveries, daily chores and office work, is the backbone of the organization. Without the dedication of these wonderful people, AniMeals would not be able to operate. It is people like you who make it all possible. AniMeals is always happy to have more volunteers, so if you’d like to join the team or make a donation, you can learn more about how to get involved on the organization’s website.

The cat and kitten shelter at AniMeals takes the old, the infirm, the youngsters born to feral mothers that need socializing and homeless kitties that need medical assistance. AniMeals believes that every life is valuable regardless of age or medical issues. They are a safe haven for those that have run out of options.

Upon arrival, they receive a “Nose to Toes Health Care Exam,” which includes: a routine checkup, spay or neuter, dentals, and vaccinations. Last, but not least, a microchip so that if they ever get lost, they will always find their way back home. AniMeals has some very sweet kitties waiting patiently for their forever families. You can learn more about them on the shelter’s website or Facebook page.

Thompson River Animal Care Shelter

Thompson River Animal Care Shelter helps to provide shelter for homeless, abused, and neglected animals until they find their new home.  All animals adopted through TRACS will be healthy, vaccinated and spayed or neutered. New owners have to agree to license as required, treat the new pet humanely and continue to insure the pet is in a healthy and loving environment. Working with the community, TRACS has grown into a shelter that will not turn away any needful pet, and can assure a healthy and comfortable life for the pets in Northwestern Montana. TRACS will have animals available for adoption at Pet Fest. For more information about TRACS, visit their Facebook page.

Humane Society of Western Montana

Piggy is a sweet boy that loves his people, tennis balls, cheese, chasing wildlife, sniffing, and hiking. Like most herding breeds, he will bond strongly to his people. He has enjoyed the company of other dogs we've mixed him with, and he loves to crawl into your lap and cuddle. Due to his herding tendencies, he needs an adult, low-traffic home that understands and has experience with the quirks of the breed! Please http://myhswm.org for more information about Pig and more dogs and cats for adoption.

Bitter Root Humane Association

It’s the Mission of the Bitter Root Humane Association to provide caring, compassionate shelter and enrichment for homeless companion animals, find loving lifelong homes, reunite pets and owners, promote population control, and advocate for all animals.

Falling in love with a pet is easy and pet ownership is very rewarding. Adopting a pet, however, is a big decision. Dogs, cats, and rabbits require a lot of time, money, and commitment. BRHA encourages you to think through your decision before you adopt a companion animal. Our experienced adoption counselors will gladly help you find an animal that's likely to be a good fit for your lifestyle and living arrangements. Visit our website for adoptable animals.

Serving our community since 1972 and now it’s time to build a new place to call home before their forever home. Won’t you help us “Unleash Tomorrow?” Find out how at www.unleashtomorrow.org

All Hearts Rescue

Located in Polson. MT, Diane Parker rescues unwanted dogs and cats. They are taken in from local and non-local shelters. Most of these animals would otherwise be euthanized. All Hearts Rescue work with shelters, Tribal animal Control, and anyone that needs to find an unwanted pet a home. All of All Hearts Rescue's pets are up for adoption, and they are all vaxed up to date and spayed or neutered. And they are all in need of a loving home! Check out the Petfinder website for current listings of available pets! If you would like to meet a pet, please call (406) 212-7544 and schedule. They are all volunteer, mainly by one person, so they do not have regular hours. Thank you for your support!

Wings Program

The Wings Programs provides assistance to both horses and horse owners in need. Horses in our care receive rehabilitation for physical and emotional problems, training as necessary to be able to transition into a new permanent home. Some of our horses are sanctuary horses, meaning they are not available for adoption for various reasons. These horses participate in Equine Assisted Programs including Life Skills, Equine Assisted Growth and Learning and Veterans programs.

Our herd provides therapy programs to developmentally disabled adults and others at no charge.  Your donations support these and other programs.

Our facility is not only a sanctuary to our 4 legged residents, it can also be a sanctuary to our friends who come and volunteer their services to help us keep everything running smoothly.

Many horses need sponsors to help with their medication and health expenses. The

Western Montana Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation

Our organization opened in September of 2008, becoming a 501(c)(3) January 20, 2009. Currently, our base of operation is at the residence of our founder, though we heavily rely on generous foster caregivers, temporary or long term. From the moment an equine arrives, we tailor each one's rehabilitation program to his/her needs; receiving an initial veterinary assessment and any subsequent needs, specialized nutrition, training, hoof care and learning to trust again.

The operation is based at the residence of the founder, though we have utilized, and still do, generous foster caregivers. From the moment an equine arrives, we tailor each horse's rehabilitation program to his/her needs. Each horse receives specialized nutrition, veterinary care, training and hoof care.

Pasture pals are a new trend in adoptions. The typical horse owner in the US is a baby boomer woman. As these women age, more are interested in adopting pasture pal horses---those who will not be ridden but will receive the same daily care and attention as a saddle horse would. Pasture pals are often senior horses.  If you are interested in providing a pasture pal with a forever home, please contact us at (406) 961-3101 or email wmerescue@gmail.com. Visit our website for more information.

Our organization has an adoption program to place our residents once they are rehabilitated. Many go on to become trusted saddle horses and others will live out their lives as pasture companions. Regardless of their limitations or potential, all equines who enter our gate find love, respect and care here.

Salmon Animal Shelter - Lemhi County Humane Society

And serve as the first line of defense against animal abuse and neglect, working closely with law enforcement officials to ensure that all animals in Lemhi County are treated in a kind and humane manner.

Adoption Applications and Fees
